In the past decade, China's cylinder block industry has undergone a profound revolution from 'manufacturing' to 'intelligent manufacturing', with the core shifting from traditional production modes relying on manual experience to a modern manufacturing system characterized by data-driven, software defined, and intelligent decision-making. This transformation is led by the national intelligent manufacturing strategy, driven by the intrinsic motivation of reducing costs and increasing efficiency, and improving product consistency for enterprises. Through the large-scale deployment of industrial robots, flexible manufacturing units, and automated logistics systems, it has achieved a deep reshaping of the production process. By the end of 2024, the automation coverage rate of mainstream cylinder block production enterprises in China has reached 80%, with top enterprises such as Weichai and Changan exceeding 90%. The key technological breakthroughs are reflected in three aspects: firstly, the widespread application of 'digital twin' technology, which constructs a 1:1 mapping model with the physical production line in virtual space for process simulation and optimization, reducing the trial production cycle of new products by more than 40%; Second, the 'Industrial Internet' platform runs through the whole process data, realizing real-time monitoring and intelligent scheduling from order to delivery, and improving the overall equipment efficiency (OEE) to more than 86%; The third is the popularization of intelligent technologies such as AI visual inspection and robot fuzzy grasping, which improves the accuracy of key dimension detection to the micrometer level and reduces the scrap rate from over 3% of the traditional level to below 1%. This revolution not only compressed the machining cycle of cylinder blocks from 8-10 minutes to 4-5 minutes, significantly increased per capita output value, but also promoted the industry's transition from large-scale standardized production to flexible and customized manufacturing, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of China's automotive and equipment manufacturing industry in core component manufacturing.
